Gordon has been involved in youth work since 1986. He first came to Salmon as a resident in 1988 when the centre was called the Cambridge University Mission.

Since then Gordon has served by being a local volunteer, a trustee, a treasurer and a member of the council of management. He was very involved with the development of the new building and is now a patron of the Salmon Youth Centre.
