Salmon Celebration

20/07/2023

An Evening Celebrating the Achievements of The Young People.

On the 27th June 2023 we held our half yearly Salmon Celebration event. This is an opportunity for staff, parents/carers and supporters to say ‘well done’ to our young people for all they have achieved in clubs this year. We were absolutely delighted to be joined by special guest Althea Loderick, who is the Chief Executive of Southwark Council.

It was a wonderful evening with 4 performances from our young people. Music featured strongly with piano and drum recitals as well as a hip hop performance from a talented young man who had written his own lyrics. The Salmon dance group topped off the performance’s with a lively afro beats compilation, which got the audience on their feet.

There were many certificates and awards presented in art, music, dance, trampoline, sports teams and for our young leaders and volunteers.

Althea Loderick handed the Outstanding Volunteer Achievement Award to Vicky Razzell for her 14 years of volunteering. We were delighted to recognise Vicky’s contribution to the life and work of The Salmon Youth Centre.  Althea was able to speak of her journey and the contribution she was hoping to make to Southwark. She encouraged and inspired the young people with her story and spent time chatting with them at the end of the evening. It was a fantastic evening and a great opportunity to celebrate the young people achievements.
