Celebrations & Updates.

So without further ado here are some of the things that have been going on at Salmon over the past month:

– Work experience days to Gallup and Thirdway: We have sent 3 groups of young people to Gallup and Thirdway Group this month. Both days gave our young people opportunities to hear and be inspired by professionals and to grow in confidence in their own abilities. On the Gallup trip our young people completed their strength-finders and presented to the group on what they were good at and their areas for growth. With Thirdway our young people were tasked with pitching their own design for a restaurant or business which was a lot of fun. We want to thank both companies for having us and we hope to be back soon!

– Residential to With: We took our second group of young people to ‘With’, a nunnery-turned-retreat centre in Norwich for a weekend of respite from their busy London lives. We had fun playing outdoor and indoor games, picked food from the on-site garden, and had time to pause and reflect on things that have been causing us stress in this season.

– Half-term Trips: We have been on 4 different outings during the half term break. The trips included a trip to FAST for some of our boy and girl footballers, bowling for our mixables and mixters groups, and celebratory meals out and go-karting for those who completed our Headstart Action projects earlier this year.

– Goodbye Sy: We waved goodbye to Sy this month. Sy is one of our trainee workers who has been with us for close to 4 years now. He is setting off on a new adventure to Kenya. I’m sure this won’t be the last contact we have with Sy but we caught up with him recently to reflect and look forward to the year ahead. You can view the video of that catch-up here:
