6-9s Outdoor Adventure at PGL Osmington Bay

21/09/2018

14 young people, aged 6-9, got the opportunity to try new things and learn new skills on a Salmon outdoor residential trip to PGL Osmington Bay this summer...

Part of what we do at Salmon is give young people the opportunity to try new things and learn new skills, while accepting and working with others and developing a sense of belonging.

All of these objectives and more were achieved over the summer when we took a group of four boys and 10 girls, aged six to nine, on a residential trip to PGL in Osmington Bay.

The young people took part in activities ranging from archery and fencing to quad biking, taking a coastal walk, and bonding over a camp fire.

Some got to face their fears of heights by taking part in the giant swing, rock climbing, abseiling and the zipwire challenges, while others expressed their competitive side and formed new friendship groups from teamwork activities such as capture the flag, buggy building and Jacob’s ladder.

By the end of the week, all the young people got to experience at least one new activity and all received certificates from the PGL staff team they could keep forever as a reminder of their brave adventure!
