I applied for this apprenticeship because I want to become a youth worker in the future – I’ve thought about this for about two years.
I heard about Salmon over 11 years ago. I’m 17 now – I’ve been coming here since I was six.
I started speaking at the age of 7 and Salmon was a big part of that because it helped me speak and interact with people and also boosted my confidence. It’s just such a good environment for young people and for people to hone their skills.
My future goal is to hopefully get a Level 2 and 3 Youth Work Qualification at the end of my apprenticeship and go on to become a youth worker.
I work in all the generic open clubs for ages six to 16, as well as specialised clubs cooking and craft, wheelchair basketball, dance, SATs study sessions and Young Leaders.
