Youth Work Intern (Girl’s Work)
Are you passionate about working with young people? Can you get alongside girls and young women and impact their lives for the better?
We are excited to announce that in partnership with the Jack Petchey Internship programme we are recruiting for a new full-time Youth Worker intern who will have a responsibility for developing our work with girls and young women.
This is an excellent year long opportunity for anyone who is looking to start a career in the youth work sector or related fields and feels they have an ability to build rapport with young people, develop work with them to positively impact their lives.
This new role will help us to reach more girls and young women, and increase our capacity to deliver activities aimed at their needs and wants, such as (but not limited to): girls only sports sessions, relationship advice and workshops, residential trips, engagement with mental health professionals, careers input and work experience, and may also include outreach in local schools. We expect that this dedicated role, focused on building secure and trusted relationships with the girls attending our club will support their self-esteem, life skills, wellbeing, aspirations and leadership potential.
As well as working at Salmon alongside our team they will be supported by the Jack Petchey Foundation with additional training and mentoring in personal development and a training bursary. The Jack Petchey Internship Programme is designed for young people who are leaving further or higher education and starting out in the youth/charity sector – or young people who have done one or two years of employment and are looking to transfer into, or take their next career step in, the youth/charity sector.
The Jack Petchey Foundation provides funding to support young people in London and Essex and we would therefore expect applicants to have a strong connection with London or Essex and ideally be currently living in the area.
